June 16: Farewell, Iceland—Homeward Bound

Our last morning in Iceland began with a quiet breakfast at the hotel, a final chance to savor the views and reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had—from the beaches of Normandy to the waterfalls and glaciers of Iceland.

After packing up, we boarded our bus for the ride to Keflavik International Airport (KEF). The drive gave us one more look at the stark beauty of the Reykjanes Peninsula before we joined the steady flow of travelers heading home. At the airport, check-in was smooth thanks to the efficient kiosks and friendly staff, and we made sure to arrive with plenty of time for security and a bit of last-minute duty-free browsing.

Soon, it was time to board our flight back to the USA. As the plane lifted off, we watched the Icelandic landscape fade into the clouds, feeling a mix of gratitude and nostalgia for all the memories made along the way. The direct flight home gave us time to look through photos, revisit favorite stories, and start dreaming about the next adventure.

Travel has a way of changing you—whether it’s the history lessons learned on the Normandy beaches, the wonder of standing beneath a waterfall, or the simple joy of sharing a meal with friends old and new. This journey reminded us of the power of discovery, the kindness of strangers, and the beauty that exists in every corner of the world.

Thank you for following along with our travels. Until the next adventure—au revoir, Iceland, and see you soon, home!

Every ending is a new beginning. Where will the next journey take us?
